President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, the official website of President Mirziyoyev reported.
“At the beginning of the conversation, the heads of state cordially congratulated each other on the 76th anniversary of the Victory over fascism and expressed their best wishes. It was noted that the great courage of our peoples, who fought heroically and worked selflessly behind the front lines, will forever be remembered by grateful generations,” the report reads.
The sides discussed topical issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-Russian strategic partnership and bilateral relations. It was noted with great satisfaction that the multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Russia is developing rapidly despite the complex conditions associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
Active dialogue continues at all levels. Major cooperation projects are being implemented in key sectors of the Uzbek economy with the participation of leading Russian companies and banks. In April this year, Tashkent hosted the first large-scale international exhibition INNOPROM.
It was stressed that additional joint measures should be taken to increase mutual trade.
Inter-parliamentary exchanges are expanding, and important programs on education and cultural-humanitarian exchange are being implemented.
During the talks, the presidents exchanged views on the international agenda and topical issues of regional cooperation, including the partnership within the CIS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Eurasian Economic Union. Future action plans were also considered. It was agreed to actively continue to prepare the agenda of the upcoming meetings at the highest level.
According to the official website Kremlin.ru, the presidents discussed the situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border. The parties welcomed the agreement between Dushanbe and Bishkek. Both heads of state have said they are ready to work to improve the situation.
