New Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan starts work

On April 12, Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Oleg Malginov.

As the MFA press service reported, accepting copies of his credentials, the minister congratulated the ambassador on the beginning of his activities in Uzbekistan and wished him success in a high and responsible post.

“During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for further development of the strategic partnership, as well as issues of interaction within the framework of international organizations. The schedule and agenda of upcoming events at the highest levels were also considered,” the statement reads.

Malginov has been working in diplomacy since 1979. In 1979-1983, he served at the USSR Embassy in India. Until 1993, he was deputy head of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. From 1994 to 1999 – Senior Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Russia to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva (Switzerland).

From 2003 to 2006, he was the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Bangladesh, from 2011 to 2016 – the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Romania.
