Uzbekistan to receive first batch of AstraZeneca vaccines in March

Uzbekistan will receive the first batch of AstraZeneca vaccines (660 thousand doses) as part of the COVAX initiative on March 15-20. This was announced at a press conference by Deputy Minister of Health, Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service, Bakhodir Yusupaliev.
According to him, at the next stage, 1 million doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine will be purchased.
“At present, the submitted agreement for the purchase of the vaccine is under consideration by the Russian side. In March, it is planned to import 1 million doses of ZF-UZ-VAC 2001 vaccine, co-authored by Uzbekistan,” he said.
It is noted that all preparations for starting mass vaccination have been carried out in Uzbekistan. Special warehouses and vehicles for storing imported vaccines, mobile teams and vaccination centers are ready.
6 billion soums have been allocated for the purchase of special syringes for vaccination. More than 10 thousand vaccinators, visiting nurses, as well as over 33 thousand doctors, are preparing to vaccinate the population.
