Uzbekistan, Qatar to develop multifaceted bilateral cooperation

On February 23, another round of political consultations between the Foreign Affairs Ministries of Uzbekistan and Qatar took place in Doha.

The delegation of Uzbekistan was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Furkat Sidikov and the delegation of Qatar – by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.

The State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar highly appreciated the large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to improve the public administration system, modernize and liberalize the economy, create a favorable investment climate, and intensify international cooperation.

During the consultations, the current state of bilateral relations and prospects for the development of multifaceted cooperation were discussed in detail.

The proposals on strengthening the inter-parliamentary dialogue, building up trade-economic and investment ties were considered.

An exchange of views took place on the schedule and agenda of upcoming joint events at various levels and formats, in particular the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission.

Particular attention was paid to the development of interaction in the cultural, humanitarian and tourism fields.

The head of the delegation of Uzbekistan invited the Qatari side to the International high-level conference “Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities”, which will be held this year in Tashkent.
