Cross-border remittances to Uzbekistan show considerable increase in January
Despite the negative impact of the pandemic, the volume of cross-border remittances to Uzbekistan has increased.
The Central Bank has provided information on international money transfers to the Republic in January 2021.
It is noted that the volume of international cross-border remittances last month amounted to $427 million. The figure is up by $27 million (7%) compared to the corresponding period in 2020.
The amount of cross-border remittances sent abroad was $101 million in January. As a result, the positive balance on international cross-border remittances amounted to $326 million.
In 2020, international money transfers to Uzbekistan were $6.03 billion, which is $17 million (0.3%) more than in 2019.
