More than half of demolished property owners never received compensation
In Uzbekistan, the majority of owners of demolished houses have still not received compensation, Abdurahim Muhiddinov, a representative of the Prosecutor-General’s Office, said at a briefing.

“As of January 1, 2020, the amount of compensation to be paid for demolitions and land expropriation was 443 billion soums. Last year, the relevant authorities paid only 202 billion soums, i.e. only 45% of the owners of real estate received compensation,” Muhiddinov said.
It was also reported that compensation in the amount of 151.5 billion soums was paid in cash, 10.7 billion soum worth land was granted and 39.2 billion soum worth property was provided.
