Senator proposes to liquidate State Admission Commission
The issue was discussed at a meeting of the Senate Committee on Science, Education and Health with the participation of experts.
Senator Odiljon Iminov criticized the State Commission for Admission to Higher Education Institutions of Uzbekistan.
“Instead of helping those who want to engage in scientific activity, the commission is trading in quotas.
They have every problem, including corruption. Unfortunately, they have not been yet addressed,” Odiljon Iminov said at a meeting on January 22.

According to the Senator, a few days ago he spoke to the Minister of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, Abdukodir Toshkulov.
“A simple example: this commission has approved two quotas in the field of allergy at the Graduate School of Medicine. Last year, three candidates applied to this direction, and neither of them scored well enough to get admitted.
Does that mean we won’t have any specialists in this sphere? No PhDs?
We sent a letter to the State Admission Commission two months ago. But no reply yet. They are ignoring Senate’s letter.
It must be stopped. Universities must determine the quotas themselves. Let the university rectors take charge of the process and the quality of education.
Why should it be up to a government official to decide these matters? Let the curricula be developed by universities themselves.
The State Admission Commission is a useless organization. Why does the country need it at all?” Odiljon Iminov said at the meeting.
