People coming in droves to obtain an international passport in Khorezm as the law on its mandatory use comes into force
On December 21, hundreds of people living in the Khazorasp and Khiva districts of the Khorezm region formed large queues near the Migration and Citizenship Registration Departments of the internal affairs bodies for obtaining biometric passports for traveling abroad.

“According to the data received, people gathered near the district migration offices are citizens planning to go to the Russian Federation for work. Starting from January 1, 2021, the requirement on the mandatory use of international passports when traveling abroad comes into force. So those people need to obtain a red passport if they want to leave the country after the law becomes effective,” the report says.
It is noted that among the population living in these territories, false information has spread about the resumption of air communication between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.
There is no information yet on the exact date for resuming flights between the two countries, the report adds.
The Migration and Citizenship Registration Departments of the Khazarasp and Khiva districts have carried out explanatory work with citizens who are in the queue for obtaining biometric passports to travel abroad. They have also been issued tokens with queue numbers.
“Considering the above, we ask the citizens not to trust any unconfirmed information, to contact the Migration and Citizenship Registration Departments of the internal affairs bodies in accordance with the established procedure,” the department concluded.
