Uzbekistan, India plan to increase trade turnover to $1 billion
Today, December 11, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held videoconference talks with the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

According to the presidential press service, the parties discussed the issues of further deepening the political dialogue, enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade-economic, investment, financial, technical, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres.
During the talks, the leaders spoke in favor of continuing regular consultations and the adoption of a medium-term program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries. It was proposed to intensify interaction along the inter-parliamentary line.
As a benchmark in the trade and economic sphere, the task was set to achieve a trade turnover of $1 billion in the coming years.
An agreement was reached on joint work to create favorable conditions for the growth of mutual trade, eliminate technical barriers and restrictions on this path.
Special attention was paid to the formation of efficient transport corridors and logistics infrastructure, the resumption of air traffic. The issues of promoting promising investment projects, including with the involvement of advanced technologies, technical assistance and concessional financing of leading Indian organizations, were also considered. Agriculture, innovation, alternative energy, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, information and communication technologies, space research were designated as priority areas.
A number of bilateral documents were signed in the fields of economy, innovation, financial-technical assistance, customs and technical regulation of trade, training personnel and conducting joint scientific research.
The leaders agreed to enhance interregional contacts based on the successful partnership between Andijan and Gujarat.
Following the Summit, the sides adopted a Joint Statement on Close Friendship and Strong Partnership between Uzbekistan and India.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Narendra Modi to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan next year.
