Social media users had previously reported that only children who have reached the age of 7 would be admitted to schools from now onwards.
As the Ministry of Public Education clarified, according to article 9 of the law “On Education”, children are admitted to the first grade of the general secondary educational institutions from the age of 7.
“For the 2021/2022 academic year, for example, children must be seven years old by December 31, 2021, to be accepted for the first grade,” the press service explained.
The ministry also noted the introduction of a one-year compulsory primary education system for children aged 6 to 7 in pre-school education institutions to prepare them for school.
