China to allocate around $3 million for upgrading quarantine laboratories in Uzbekistan
The upgrading of laboratory facilities will increase the accuracy of diagnostic studies and the effectiveness of crop disease prevention activities.
The Government of China, at the request of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, has approved the allocation of funds for the project “Modernization of laboratories of the State Plant Quarantine Inspection (SPQI) under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan”.
According to the MIFT, the project provides for the modernization and technical equipping of the laboratories of the State Plant Quarantine Inspection in the Andijan, Namangan and Tashkent regions, as well as the training of personnel in modern laboratory analytical methods.
The project includes the purchase of laboratory equipment for a $2.9 million grant from the Government of China.
The upgrading laboratory facilities will increase the accuracy of diagnostic studies and the effectiveness of activities on preventing crop diseases. Also, the introduction of state-of-the-art developments and express methods will ensure fast results of analyses and surveys, thus minimizing the time of getting the relevant certificates for cars loaded with sub-standard products.
The SPQI is working on identifying the necessary equipment, prepare the relevant technical documentation and discuss the technical parameters and conditions of delivery. After the purchase of laboratory equipment, Chinese specialists will visit Uzbekistan for their installment and maintenance.
