This is stated on the website of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
According to the press service of ATOR, it is highly probable that Russia will resume air service with most of the CIS countries from September 1. It can be announced on August 20 at a government level.
According to experts, there are several reasons for resuming flights to nearby foreign countries.
First, the situation with coronavirus in the Russian Federation is stabilizing, and it is planned to launch mass production of vaccines for COVID-19 in September.
Secondly, the epidemiological situation in the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States is also returning to normal mode. Moreover, these countries now intend to buy a Russian vaccine. It is also a question of re-establishing humanitarian and business ties.
“For these reasons, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia were already on the list of 30 countries with which the Russian Transport Ministry proposed to restore the air service. There are now prerequisites for resuming flights in these directions. We are expecting the opening of borders with these countries from September,” the Association declared.
The date of opening the borders with Belarus still remains unclear. “Belavia” cancelled all flights to the Russian Federation until August 21.
“With the opening of flights to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Russian tourists will have new opportunities to fly to the countries of Asia and the Middle East. However, popular destinations have not yet opened their borders for tourists. Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and India still do not accept foreigners,” the statement said.
