According to the document, for certain categories of crimes, if the convicted person voluntarily surrenders, shows sincere remorse, actively contributes to the investigation of the crime and repairs the damage caused, the sentence being applied will not exceed half of the maximum penalty prescribed by law. Such categories of cases will be processed under a simplified procedure.
In addition, the investigative units of the Tashkent City Prosecutor’s Office and the Investigation Department of the Tashkent City Central DIA will organize their activities in accordance with international standards and foreign experience.
The investigation units will be provided with vehicles equipped with modern forensic equipment, audio and video recording systems. The investigation rooms will be redesigned according to international standards and will make it possible for suspects and accused individuals to meet with their lawyers in private.
