The MPE reported that, based on its authority, it is working on three scenarios for the beginning of the academic year.
Scenario #1: As the pandemic stabilizes, schools will resume their activities. This is the best option for the ministry and pupils. International experience shows that school-age children are less likely to become infected than adults, and the risk of the disease passing from children to adults is also not high.
Scenario #2: If the conclusion of the Health Ministry on the spread of the virus among children in Uzbekistan is not positive, the schooling may continue online.
Scenario #3: This is a hybrid scenario. The schools will also be transferred to the classroom system. Only in a certain region, depending on the quarantine situation at school, pupils will continue to receive an education online or full-time.
In this case, at the initial stage, parents who are afraid for their child’s health will be given the opportunity to educate their child online at home, which means that school attendance will not be compulsory.
The final decision will be announced by the Special Republican Commission.
Despite the change in quarantine rules, the ministry plans to continue the online school project. This project gives the child an opportunity to consolidate the knowledge gained in the classroom at school, and teachers – to receive masterclasses from their qualified colleagues, the Ministry of Public Education noted.
