According to the presidential press service of the president, several khokims and ministers have not been able to properly assess the difficulty of the situation and are still not fully aware of the threat.
“This is particularly true in the city of Tashkent and the Tashkent region, where the khokims and the chiefs of the sectors did not study or have an inadequate understanding of the real state of affairs. They are not fully aware of work in medical institutions. They do not feel full responsibility for preventing the virus from spreading, protecting the population,” the President said.
Over the past month, the Ministry of Health has significantly disrupted the strategy and tactics of coronavirus treatment, and treatment practices have not changed based on the actual situation.
The city of Tashkent lacks testing kits and essential medicines. Prices of antiviral and antiretroviral drugs in pharmacies were unreasonably increased.
In recent days, the prices for drugs used for treating the disease, which usually cost between 80,000 and 100,000 soums, have increased 7-8 times. There is also discontent about the deficiency of Cagocel, Plaquenil, Ergoferon and other medicines.
The indifference of the Ministry and the khokimiyats is also reflected in the fact that at present, hospitals in Tashkent and the Tashkent region have 418 and 816 medical staff vacant.
The population faces problems and does not know where to turn and receive treatment for coronavirus and other diseases. Sometimes people are unable to contact an ambulance.
Unfortunately, there are also cases of doctors’ negligence. There are many shortcomings reported at the Yukorichirchik quarantine center and in the Zangiata district treatment center. The number of infected people reaches 4,092 in Tashkent and 1,498 in the Tashkent region. This comprises 40 percent of cases recorded in Uzbekistan. The death rate in Tashkent has also dramatically increased to 45.
The President noted that in such a deplorable situation dissatisfaction of the population is very relevant.
The Minister of Health Alisher Shadmanov and the khokim of Tashkent Jakhongir Artikhodjayev were reprimanded for the inability to properly organize the work on preventing the spread of the coronavirus in Tashkent and failure to treat the infected appropriately. The region was not prepared for adverse changes in the epidemiological situation and lacked a strong grassroots response to the disease.
In addition, the chiefs of all sectors have been given strict warnings.
