On the portal regulation.gov.uz, a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On forecasting emergencies that may arise as a result of erosion of dams and walls holding water resources in all water reservoirs and hydroelectric power stations of Uzbekistan” has been published for discussion. The project was initiated by the State Committee for Land Resources, Geodesy, Cartography and the State Cadastre of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The National Center for State Cadastre, Geodesy and Cartography under the State Committee for Land Resources, Geodesy and Cartography, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Energy, the State Committee for Geology and Mineral Resources, will have to develop a map of the estimated radius before October 1 of this year using modern space photographs, as well as digital data on the topography of the earth. It should be based on the volume of water at all the large reservoirs, hydroelectric power stations and other water facilities where flooding may occur.

The Ministry of Water Resources, the State Committee for Land Resources, Geodesy and Cartography, JSC Uzbekhydroenergo in two months will work out a plan for the periodic conduct of geodetic and geological observations with high accuracy to develop and refine forecasts on the strength and stability of dams in reservoirs and large hydraulic structures and submit this plan for approval to the Cabinet of Ministers in the prescribed manner.

The approval of the “roadmap”, aimed at ensuring the enforcement of the decision, is planned.
