On May 6, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
During the talks, the Turkmen leader offered assistance in restoring infrastructure in the Syrdarya region, which suffered from flooding after the dam breakthrough at the Sardoba reservoir, TDH reports.
“Expressing words of deep sympathy for the people of Uzbekistan in connection with the natural disaster that caused significant damage in a number of cities and settlements of the neighboring country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow emphasized the willingness of Turkmenistan to render all possible assistance in restoring infrastructure,” the report reads.
As noted, the relevant departments of Turkmenistan are ready to immediately contact their Uzbek colleagues, establish operational channels of interaction and determine work schemes to mitigate the consequences of the natural disaster.
