“Political parties have made many promises, now people are waiting for their fulfillment” – Shavkat Mirziyoyev

Today, during the first post-election meeting of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech. 

The head of state congratulated the deputies on their election to the Legislative Chamber. 

“Elections to the parliament and local Councils were an important political exam for Uzbekistan, and our people proved themselves worthy in this process,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President noted with satisfaction that 9 youth representatives and 48 women were elected to the lower house of the new parliament. It was emphasized that the past elections, contributing to the growth of political activity of the population, not only increased the confidence of the people in the parties, but also strengthened the requirements for them. 

“During the election campaign, political parties made many promises to solve the pressing issues prevalent in society. Now our people are waiting for their implementation in practice. You must be deeply aware of this, you always have to think about the voter,” the president said. 

Confidence was expressed that the factions of political parties in the lower house will determine for themselves specific plans for the future and will implement them in full. 

The head of state noted that during the election campaign some shortcomings were observed, he pointed out the need for further improvement of the organizational and legal foundations of the national electoral system.
