From January 1, 2020, road patrol officers are required to use body cameras, when performing duties.
It should be recalled that since September 19, 50 officers of Tashkent’s police department (including 32 traffic inspectors and 18 officers of the patrol-post service) have been performing duties in a test mode with body cameras.
From July 1, 2019, in Uzbekistan, each employee of the road patrol service, when carrying out the duty, should have had a mobile video camera. However, the excessive red tape and bureaucracy, shown by the leadership of the State Committee for Defense Industry and the Interior Ministry, led to a delay in the execution deadlines.
After that, the government adopted a decree “On additional measures to provide employees of internal affairs bodies with mobile video surveillance equipment”. According to the document, until January 1, 2020, all employees of the road patrol units and the patrol-post service of the internal affairs bodies should have been provided with mobile video cameras and tablets.
Previously, the police department of Tashkent told in detail how body cameras work.
