Religious organizations of Uzbekistan and Russia intend to expand cooperation in the very near future, primarily in the field of religious education, Consul General of Uzbekistan in St. Petersburg Mehriddin Khayriddinov told RIA Novosti.
“Education, including religious education, remains an important factor in the development of a particular society. And the development of interstate relations based on the interaction of the Islamic structures of our countries is the task of today. There are all possibilities for this,” Khayriddinov said.
The Mufti of Moscow Ildar Alyautdinov, in turn, told RIA Novosti that the muftis are doing everything possible so that migrants arriving in Russia, including from Uzbekistan, can fulfill their religious practices.
“Our task is to do everything possible so that co-religionists find here not only work, help their families, but also freely practice their faith. For many years we have also been doing great work in cooperation with the Uzbek community,” concluded the Moscow Mufti Ildar Alyautdinov.
