Labor Ministry announces the unemployment rate in Uzbekistan

In January-September 2019, the unemployment rate in Uzbekistan was 8.9%. This was stated in the official report of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations.
It was noted that in September, the Republican Scientific Center for Employment and Labor Protection held a regular social survey in 108 cities and districts. It covered 485 mahallas, 4,900 households and 26,008 citizens.
According to the survey, the unemployment rate accounted for 8.9% of the economically active population. This is lower by 0.2% (9.1%) than in January-June 2019. In comparison with the same period of 2018, the unemployment rate decreased by 0.1%.
For the first time in 2019, the number of employed people in the formal sector has increased. During 9 months, its indicator made up 307,900 and reached 5,691,200 people.
Reportedly, 2.6 million people left the country to work abroad. This is more by 100.7% than in the same period last year.
