On November 13, the XXV Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road” started at Uzexpocenter. The event was opened by the acting chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Abdulaziz Akkulov, the UNWTO director for the European Department Peter Janech and the khokim of Tashkent Jakhongir Artikkhodjayev.
During the event, Abdulaziz Akkulov talked about the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan since the moment of determining tourism as one of the strategic sectors of the economy, and shared some statistics.
“In January-October this year, foreign tourists throughout Uzbekistan were provided with tourist services for $1.1 billion, and such regions as Andijan ($54 million), Namangan ($41 million), Surkhandarya ($38 million), also received significant revenues from the export of tourism services,” he said.
Currently, 85 stands have been installed at the exhibition, including stands of Uzbekistan’s 14 regions, various industry organizations, tour operators, hotels, transport companies, educational institutions and public organizations.
The event is being attended by foreign participants from 26 countries. There are representatives of France, Israel, the Republic of Korea, Turkey, Russia, Singapore, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Belarus, Malaysia and Iran among them.
It should be noted that the diverse program of the TITF includes cultural, entertainment and business meetings.
