Syarhey Rumas: Nuclear energy and nuclear security needs regular meetings within the SCO space

A meeting of SCO Council of Government Heads has been held in Tashkent.
Heads of observer states in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization - Afghanistan, Belarus, Mongolia and Iran also took part in the event.
As Kun.uz correspondent reports, the Belarusian Prime Minister Syarhey Rumas addressed a number of key issues in his speech at a meeting of the SCO Prime Ministers:
“Ensuring full food security is an important factor in promoting security in the SCO space. We propose to develop and implement activities under the auspices of the SCO to promote mutually beneficial trade in food and agricultural products.
Belarus, which is implementing the project on building a nuclear power plant, is actively developing cooperation in strengthening nuclear security and the peaceful use of nuclear energy.
Considering the urgency of the topic, I think it's time to create a mechanism for regular meetings within the SCO space on nuclear energy and nuclear security,” Rumas said.
