On October 31, 2019, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Vladimir Norov, who arrived in Tashkent to attend the next meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government, the ministerial press service reports.
The parties discussed topical issues of cooperation within the SCO, included in the agenda of the CHG meeting in Tashkent, which opens on November 1. Practical aspects of Uzbekistan’s participation in the organization’s activities were also considered.
Vladimir Norov took office as the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on January 1, 2019.
Norov previously worked as Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan, and has the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
