According to the presidential press service, at the beginning of his speech, the President of Uzbekistan gave a critical assessment of the situation in the region.

“The purpose and content of our policy is simple: who works, he earns. The state is obliged to create such conditions under which a person works freely. To this end, acts are adopted, priorities are determined. But there are few executives at the bottom of the line who are able to fulfill them. Have we created a school for training khokims? There is no positive answer to this question. The leaders of spheres and industries are “numb,” the president said.

The head of state noted that the region’s growth rates still do not match its real potential.

“The reason for our third visit to the region in the current year is to show all leaders, using the example of Surkhandarya, how to identify and fully use priority areas and growth points for the accelerated development of regions, taking into account their features and capabilities,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized. 

All ministers, heads of spheres and industries were instructed to prepare and submit to the regional khokimiyat concrete proposals for development of the region by the end of this year and next year.
