Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and South Korea discuss strengthening trade-economic relations

On October 16, 2019, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in Nur Sultan to participate in the 12th Cooperation Forum “Republic of Korea - Central Asia,” met with the Foreign Minister of South Korea Kang Kyung-wha, the ministerial press service reported.

The ministers reviewed the implementation of the multifaceted agreements reached on April 18-21 within the framework of President Moon Jae In’s state visit to Uzbekistan and negotiations with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The parties noted with satisfaction the dynamic nature of bilateral relations in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. In the first half of 2019, the volume of trade reached $1.8 billion, which is 75% higher than the same period last year.

The parties examined the mechanisms for further development of joint investment, as well as socially significant projects, the prospects for cooperation in the implementation of the “electronic government” program, the partnership on information and communication technologies, education, health and agriculture.

The foreign ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest.
