Valentina Matviyenko: Doors of the CSTO are open for Uzbekistan

The issue of Uzbekistan’s returning to the CSTO is not on the agenda, said Federation Council Chairperson Valentina Matviyenko after talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“There is such an opportunity. The doors of the CSTO are open for Uzbekistan, but this issue is not on the agenda now,” she said.
Matviyenko noted that the laws of Uzbekistan prevent the country from joining such unions.
“I do not exclude the possibility that someday this issue will be on the agenda, but we did not discuss it with the president,” Matvienko emphasized.
