Uzbekistan to provide additional benefits to labor migrants

The Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution “On additional measures to protect the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of Uzbekistan engaged in temporary labor activities abroad”.

According to the document, by January 1, 2020, centers for pre-departure orientation of citizens going to work abroad will be created in the republic. For this, grants in the amount of not more than 4 basic calculated amount (BCA) per month will be allocated for each studying migrant.

Also, the following types of insurance will be issued on a preferential basis:

- insurance of risks of refusal to grant a patent and other permits for employment;

- insurance of risks of non-repayment of loans issued to pay for transport and other expenses for employment abroad;

- voluntary health insurance.

In accordance with the resolution, measures will be taken for free vocational training, retraining and advanced training of unemployed labor migrants, who have returned to their homeland, by providing grants from the Employment Promotion Fund.

In addition, in 2020-2021, representative offices of the Agency for External Labor Migration will be opened in the cities of Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Volgograd, Pyatigorsk, Istanbul, Nur-Sultan and Dubai.
