Court verdict on former Prosecutor General Rashitjon Kadirov announced

Today, June 26, in Tashkent, the Yunusabad district court on criminal proceedings issued a verdict on the former Prosecutor General Rashid Kadirov and 13 others.

According to the court’s verdict, Kadirov, occupying the post of Prosecutor General of Uzbekistan in 2000–2015, committed a number of grave and especially grave crimes in conspiracy with a group of persons occupying high posts in the prosecutor’s office and other law enforcement bodies (namely M. Mirzayev, J. Fayziyev, U. Sunnatov, R. Pulatov, A. Musashaykhov, U. Khurramov, Yu. Gaipov, A. Mirzayev, as well as citizens S. Kosimov, A. Ikramov, Kh. Akhmedjanov).

The former Prosecutor General is found guilty of taking bribes, inciting bribery, fraud, intentional tax evasion and other obligatory payments, interfering with the investigation or resolution of court cases, legalization of income derived from criminal activities and other crimes against functioning of the authorities, administration and public associations.

For the crimes committed by Kadirov, in accordance with Part 6, Article 50 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, a sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment and a fine of 500 MMW were imposed.

According to the press service of the Supreme Court, at a closed court session, which lasted almost six months, about 200 witnesses were heard, expert opinions and service checks as well as other evidence collected in the case were examined for their legality and validity.

In addition, the court decided to consider the deprivation of special ranks and state awards (Article 52 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan) of the convicts R. Kadirov, M. Mirzayev, A. Mirzayev, J. Faiziyev, U. Sunnatov, R. Pulatov, U. Khurramov and U. Gaipov, who committed grave and especially grave crimes.
