On June 23, 2019, a roundtable was held in Tamra (Israel) with participation of representatives from the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the leaders of over 10 Israeli travel companies working primarily with the Arabic population of the country.

During the event, the Israeli side was acquainted with the main directions of development of the tourism sector in Uzbekistan, measures taken by the government to increase the tourist inflow to the country.

Israeli representatives of travel agencies expressed growing attention to Uzbekistan as a promising tourist destination. Information presented by the diplomatic mission about significant potential in the field of ziyorat tourism was of particular interest. According to estimates, the leading position of the republic in the Global Muslim Travel Index on “ziyorat” tourism offers great opportunities to increase the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan from Israel. In many ways, this can be achieved at the expense of the Muslim population of Israel, taking into account the fact that Arabs make up about 20% of all the inhabitants of Israel.

It is noteworthy that Israeli travel companies have announced their intention to establish a partnership with travel agents of Uzbekistan to develop routes to visit the republic and form tourist groups. In addition, they have separately expressed readiness to visit Uzbekistan within the framework of the 25th anniversary of the Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road”, which will be held in November 2019.
