Sophie Ibbotson, founder and director of consulting firm Maximum Exposure, was presented a certificate of appointment as Tourism Brand Ambassador of Uzbekistan in the UK. The solemn ceremony took place at the embassy of our country in London, UzA reports.
Ibbotson is one of the active and productive foreign experts promoting information about Uzbekistan, its history, culture and traditions in foreign media and social networks. She has been working with Uzbekistan for more than 10 years. With her support, Uzbekistan has repeatedly won a number of prestigious awards from specialized British media in the field of tourism.
Expressing gratitude to the Uzbek side for high confidence, Sophie Ibbotson noted that as the ambassador of the tourism brand of Uzbekistan, she will make even more efforts to popularize the tourist potential of the country.
Pointing to the importance of expanding the geography of travel, Ibbotson said that this year she planned to organize press tours to the regions of Uzbekistan, in particular to Navoi and Kashkadarya regions. In her opinion, these regions have tremendous opportunities, and with skillful marketing and advertising it is possible to significantly increase the influx of foreign visitors.
“For all the time I worked with Uzbekistan, I learned that many tourists, tour operators, journalists are aware of the beauty and wonders of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, but I want people to learn about many other things that the country can offer,” said Ibbotson. “So far, we have focused on developing relations with television companies, magazines and newspapers, now we need to develop digital marketing, to reach more potential tourists online. I am going to use social networks to share reviews, photos, answer questions and talk about the opportunities that exist in Uzbekistan.”
