Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan meet in Moscow, note dynamism of mutual trade turnover

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov, who arrived in Moscow to participate in a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers (COM), met with the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov.

“The heads of the foreign affairs agencies discussed current issues of bilateral relations in various fields, noting with satisfaction their dynamism. In 2018, mutual trade turnover exceeded $302 million, which is almost 70% more than the corresponding figure of the previous year,” the Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan reports.

During the exchange of views on the international and regional agenda, special attention was paid to interaction within the framework of the chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the CIS in 2019.

The CIS Ministerial Council meeting will be held in Moscow on April 5. Issues relating to the need to preserve and properly care for military graves and military monuments of the Great Patriotic War (foreign ministers are expected to sign a corresponding appeal) and to coordinate intergovernmental relations in the field of basic research are offered for consideration at the Ministerial Meeting in a broad format.

The remaining documents are invited to sign without discussion. They are fully coordinated and concern the deepening of the interaction of the Commonwealth countries in the field of culture, education and the fight against crime.
