“First lady of Indian fashion” appointed Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan to India

A famous Indian fashion designer and founder of her own brand Ritu Beri has been appointed “Ambassador of tourism on culture” of Uzbekistan to India. This was announced during the work of the Festival of Uzbek music and fashion held in Delhi, the press service of the State Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.

At the Festival of Uzbek music and fashion in Delhi, an exhibition of the Beri clothing collection, which she specially prepared for this event, was held. The collection was dominated by expressive traditional elements of Ikata.

At the gala event, an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to India Farkhod Arziyev officially announced the appointment of Ms. Beri as “Ambassador of tourism on culture” of Uzbekistan to India. She was also presented an official certificate and a memorable gift on behalf of the State Committee of Uzbekistan on Tourism Development.

“I express my deep gratitude to the State Committee for Development of Tourism of Uzbekistan for such high confidence in my appointment as 
“Ambassador of tourism on culture” of Uzbekistan in India. I will put all my efforts and opportunities to promote the culture and tourist potential of Uzbekistan in India. I want especially to note that India and Uzbekistan are connected by a common culture and art. Close friendly relations have historically been established between our countries. I am entrusted great honor to act as a co-organizer of the Uzbek-Indian fashion show. Carrying out cultural events of this kind contributes to further rapprochement of the two country peoples," Ritu Beri said.

Rita Beri is the first Indian designer presented in Paris, she is often called an Indian “Fashion princess” and the 
“First lady of Indian fashion”. The world famous movie stars Nicole Kidman, Leticia Casta, Madhuri Dixit and others wear outfits from Rita Beri.

She is also a founder of the non-profit organization The Luxury League, which promotes creativity and innovation in the fashion industry.
