On February 27, in Jakarta, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Indonesia, Ulugbek Rozukulov, presented his credentials as the country's ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to the Secretary General of this organization, Dato Lim Jock Hoy.

During the conversation, the ASEAN Secretary General noted that he was watching with sincere interest the large-scale transformations being carried out in Uzbekistan aimed at comprehensive development of the country.

In his opinion, the reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev are already yielding results, as evidenced by the inclusion of Uzbekistan in various international ratings, the growth of investments and foreign trade and, in general, increased interest in our country from the world community, including the states of Southeast Asia.

ASEAN Secretary General emphasized that the implementation of various international initiatives opens up prospects for expanding transport, trade and investment relations of Uzbekistan with the member countries of the association.

ASEAN is a regional intergovernmental organization uniting 10 countries of Southeast Asia (Brunei, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines). At the end of 2018, the population of the organization's member countries exceeded 651 million people, GDP — more than 3 trillion US dollars, and foreign trade turnover — more than 2.3 trillion.
