Uzbekistan leads by the number of migrants in Russia

Last year, migration flows to Russia from other countries decreased to a minimum since 2005 – 124,9 thousand people. Rosstat stated about it. Compared to 2017, migration has dropped by 41% or 87,000 people. 
 
As a result, the migration flow for the first time in the past 10 years has not been able to compensate for natural decline, while Russia's population has reduced by 93,5 thousand people. 
 
In 2018, the number of migrants in Russia has dropped by 4% (565,700 people). The number of people who left the country increased by 17% (440,800 people). 
 
Since 2006, the migration exchange with far foreign countries has been negative for the first time (minus 4199 people). 
 
Tajikistan has become a new leader among donor countries: the migration flow from this country has exceeded 31,000 people. In 2018, every fourth legal migrant came to Russia from Tajikistan. 
 
Second place is taken by Kazakhstan (+26,5 thousand people). Ukraine is on the third place (+14,8 thousand). In comparison with 2017, Ukraine's migration flow has dropped by three times (from 47,7 thousand). Since 2014, Ukraine has been a leader by the number of migrants who have arrived in Russia. 
 
Uzbekistan is still leading by the number of migrants in the RF. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 4,5 million Uzbek migrants were registered in 2018, 3,25 million people cancelled registrations (balance – plus 1,25 million). Tajik citizens are on the second place: 2,33 million people were registered, 1,53 million people cancelled registrations (balance – almost 800 thousand people more).
