At the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov and representatives of the consortium of Turkish companies Cengiz-Kolin-Kalyon (CKK) headed by the General Director of the Turkish company “Kalyon” Serdar.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss implementation of the pilot project of the new toll highway Tashkent-Samarkand on the principles of public-private partnership.
The agreement on implementation of this project was reached during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Uzbekistan in the spring of 2018. The project was included in the roadmap of projects following the results of the Uzbek-Turkish forum.
“Within the framework of the joint meeting, an additional version of the route Tashkent-Samarkand, developed in the online version, was presented. Also, detailed passage of the route, engineering, financial and economic aspects of the project, its marginal cost and possible sources of its financing were discussed,” the Ministry of Transport said.
At the end of the meeting, the parties noted that this project will relieve the traffic of existing highway Tashkent-Samarkand, reduce the distance up to 2 hours and ensure stability in implementation of further repair and restoration works of the highway.
