1 million Chinese students to visit Uzbekistan to study the history of Silk Road

China plans to send about one million schoolchildren and students to study the history, culture, art and architecture of Uzbekistan on the basis of the Silk Road International University of Tourism, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

This was announced during the negotiations between the United Nations Maritime and Continental Silk Road Cities Alliance Smart City and New Industry Committee (UNMCSR-SNC) delegation led by the Secretary General of the organization Jianbo Wu and representatives of the university.

“Not everyone in China is aware that Uzbekistan was one of the centers of the Great Silk Road, and therefore we want more people in China to know how rich this country is. Uzbekistan will be the center of our project,” said a Hainan university representative Li Jing.

The agenda of the visit included a discussion of the prospects for cooperation with Chinese universities, as well as the signing of an agreement and a memorandum with a view to developing scientific and educational activities, the formation of friendly relations.

As indicated in the document, it was concluded with the aim of deepening cooperation within the framework of implementation of the large-scale Chinese government initiative “One Belt, One Road” in the field of science and education.

The memorandum states that its participants will contribute to academic exchanges, the development of programs for joint preparation of bachelors and faculty members, the organization of research projects and research initiatives.

In addition, they will be engaged in holding joint seminars and scientific conferences, the implementation of innovative projects with the possible involvement of other stakeholders, the implementation of the program of double diplomas.

In the future, it is planned to open a Chinese language center at the university, as well as a center for the preparation of tourist guides speaking the Chinese language. Both sides have adopted bilateral agreements on close cooperation and interaction on issues of mutual interest.
