The Prosecutor General’s Office studied the situation and took control of demolition of houses in the center of Fergana, the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office reported. 
 
It should be recalled that earlier, there was information on the media that several families from dozen houses, which are to be demolished in the center of Fergana, do not want to move to apartments provided for them because of “low-quality and far location from the city center”.  
 
According to the data of the Prosecutor General’s Office, two-storey houses are demolished at the intersection of streets A. Navoi, S. Temur and Farobiy based on the order of the Fergana city khokim (dated January 8, 2019). In general, all houses were built in 1946-1947. There were 120 apartments in the abovementioned houses. 
 
At the first stage, the owners of 72 apartments were relocated to new houses on Registan Street. According to the prosecutor's office, the new houses are located at 5-6 km from the city center, there is a school and a kindergarten nearby. 
 
“The new apartments have separate heating systems, electricity, gas and water. They are built of oven-baked bricks, wooden floors. As of January 21, 2019, 43 tenants have moved to new apartments. Instead of an old 53 square meters apartment, they were granted a new three-room apartment with a total area of 70 square meters,” the press service of the Prosecutor General’s office noted. 
 
The media also reported that a 44-year-old resident of the house 32, which was subject to demolition, died as a result of heart attack. He was unable to endure an altercation with the authorities. On this occasion, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan noted that on January 18, 44-year-old man felt bad and was placed in a regional hospital. On January 19, he died from a cerebral hemorrhage. The man lived at the house 32 and he was given a new three-room apartment instead of the old one. 
 
In addition, more than 40 families, who moved to new apartments on Registan Street, still have not yet received documents of ownership. 
 
According to one of the moved families, they are not satisfied with the condition of the apartment given on Registan Street. 
 
“A week ago, I moved to a new apartment, masters are still working here. I survived in the cold with my 3-year-old child for three days, the heating system does not work. The floors were dismantled, underneath was full of rubbish. Let them come and see everything! My neighbor from the former house came to me and cried. In her new apartment the electrical wiring completely burned down,” the converser said. 
 
Other residents, who still do not want to move to new homes, reported that they are under pressure from local authorities. 
 
“Some cases of dissatisfaction of tenants are being thoroughly studied. In addition, measures are being taken to eliminate faults and problems,” the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office stressed.
