Radio Liberty to be allocated $1,483 million for its functioning in Uzbekistan in 2019

Radio Liberty (full name – Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty, RFE / RL) is an international non-profit broadcasting organization funded by the US Congress.
Its trustee is the US Agency for Global Media. The organization declares its mission as “promoting democratic values and institutions by addressing the audience of countries in which press freedom is restricted by the authorities or has not yet become the norm of public life”.
As of October 2018, broadcasting is being conducted in 26 languages in 23 countries of Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Near and Middle East. In the Central Asian countries, the Kazakh service “Radio Azattyk”, the Tajik “Radio Ozodi”, the Kyrgyz “Radio Azattyk”, the Turkmen “Radio Azatlyk” and the Uzbek service “Radio Ozodlik” function.
In addition to broadcasting, Radio Liberty also broadcasts via the Internet and creates TV programs. The headquarters of the organization is located in Washington and the program center is in Prague (until 1995 it was in Munich). There are also 17 regional bureaus.
According to the official website of Radio Liberty, about 400 full-time journalists and about 750 freelancers work in the RFE / RL.
