Trial against former Prosecutor General Rashidjon Kadirov begins

According to the source in the Prosecutor General’s Office, the trial behind closed doors against the former Prosecutor General Rashidjon Kadirov began.
Such trials are allowed by law only when it is required to keep a state or other secrets.
“The proceedings were carried out confidentially. Since the case now went to trial, the issues of disclosing information are exclusively within the court’s jurisdiction,” the head of Public Relations and Legal Information of the Prosecutor General’s Office Surayyo Rakhmonova said.
The trial began on Monday at 10:00 a.m. concurrently against all those involved in the case. Relatives of the defendants were not allowed in the courtroom. The next meeting will be held on January 9.
Mr. Kadirov was arrested in February 2018 for bribery, extortion and abuse of power and was charged under Articles 165, 205 and 210 of the Criminal Code. Later, it was reported that charges were brought against another 24 persons within the case.
