Special units for the protection of tourists to appear in the Interior Ministry of Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan intends to establish specialized units of the internal affairs bodies to ensure the safety of tourists. This is stated in the concept of tourism development and plan of measures for 2019-2025.
The corresponding draft resolution of the President of Uzbekistan should be developed before February 15. The document, in particular, will envisage “the creation of specialized units of the internal affairs bodies to ensure safe tourism in the regions with high tourist potential and equipping them with modern means of transport”.
In 2017, the Government of Uzbekistan approved the concept of ensuring safe tourism, according to which the departments of safe tourism have been established at the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Bukhara, Samarkand, Khorezm and Kashkadarya regions.
In addition, law enforcement agencies had to implement a unified “Safe Tourism” hardware-software complex - a video surveillance system, analysis and automated information processing, receiving and recording reports on offenses and incidents in the cities of Bukhara, Samarkand, Khiva and Shakhrisabze.
