The Uzbek government will revise the conditions on preferential admission for university enrollees who have completed the military service at the Armed Forces. This is stated in the draft State Program “Year of Active Investments and Social Development”, which is being discussed until January 15. 
 
Until May 1, it is envisaged to draft a document that will provide for the allocation for enrollees who have served in the army separate quotas within the approved admission quotas for universities for conducting test trials in accordance with the limits of the annually allotted places. 
 
In addition, the recommendation issued by the commander of a military unit, will now serve as the basis for preferential admission to military universities only. 
 
Now, university enrollees who have completed military service and had recommendations from military units receive 50% of their scores based on the results of entrance tests within the framework of the general competition. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that such a procedure for granting preferences infringes the rights of girls and in general, entrants who are going to study at a particular specialty. 
 
“This question needs to be reviewed and the system should be changed. This is unfair and not transparent,” he said.
