The Prosecutor General’s Office refused to comment on the detention of the ex-governor of Tashkent’s Yunusabad district Bakhtiyor Abdusamatov, Kun.uz correspondent said.

Mr. Abdusamatov was arrested in early September while taking $ 400,000 in bribe in exchange for arranging the sale of land plot to an investor.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office did not make any official statements on this matter. Therefore, we can’t say anything,” Surayyo Rakhmonova, a spokeswoman at the Prosecutor General's Office declared to journalists.

It should be recalled that during the meeting on April 11, 2017, Shavkat Mirziyoyev criticized Mr. Abdusamatov’s activities as a chairman of the State Committee for Environmental Protection. Later on, he was dismissed from his post and after a week, was appointed khokim of Yunusabad district.

“Individuals, related to corruption cases, are being investigated. There are some cases at the final stage. We will notify you all about the results of investigations when they are forwarded to the court,” Deputy Prosecutor-General Erkin Yuldoshev said.
