A unique exhibition within the framework of the “New Silk Road” initiative kicks off in Tashkent

A unique exhibition “Art on the Silk Road” will be held in Tashkent from December 12 to 20, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

Its main location will be the Gallery of Fine Arts of Uzbekistan, and the Academy of Arts will host a series of lectures from German, Chinese and Uzbek experts.

It is worth noting that the initiator of the project is Jiang Guo, chairman of the German-Chinese association of cultural exchange in the field of art and design, who said that “our goal is to unite people through art along the new Silk Road route. In Uzbekistan, we can do it now”.

In turn, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov supported this initiative and said he believes that “the peoples living in the territory of modern Uzbekistan have always been open to dialogue. This has contributed to cultural enrichment and numerous trade contacts. Therefore By reviving and developing deep cultural and economic ties between countries, creating a new impetus for the revival of the Silk Road, we are opening up new opportunities not only for our country, but also for all participating states”.

Note that the German-Chinese association of cultural exchange in the field of art and design and its partners in Uzbekistan expect the same resonance as it was at the opening ceremony in Duisburg in June 2018. The exhibition in Duisburg was visited by more than 20 thousand visitors.

The exposition will present the Dunhuang cave painting from Western China, which is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, as well as the modern ink painting of various Chinese arts academies. Part of the exhibition is devoted to contemporary art: the work of photographers Corina Hertz and Ulrike Möchel. New in the exhibition are the works of an outstanding artist Katharina Sieverding.
