Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposes forming anti-corruption committees in the chambers of Oliy Majlis

Last year in Uzbekistan, a number of measures were taken to prevent and combat corruption, 1,177 officials who committed such crimes were prosecuted, Kun.uz correspondent reports citing the statement of the head of state.
“No matter how hard the law enforcement agencies try, without the uncompromising attitude of our citizens to this disgusting phenomenon, it is impossible to effectively fight corruption. A serious fight against this evil must be waged not only by law enforcement agencies, but also by the public”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
According to him, each state institution should have its own, internal anti-corruption program, the implementation of which will be controlled by the public.
As the world experience shows, the president added, in the parliaments of many countries, including the United States, Russia, Great Britain, Bulgaria, Greece, Latvia, Estonia, there are commissions and committees on countering corruption.
“Taking into account this best practice and proceeding from the requirements of our Constitution, I propose to form anti-corruption committees in the chambers of Oliy Majlis. As representative bodies, these committees should contribute to strengthening the fight against corruption in public institutions at all levels,” the president noted.
