On December 5, 2018, the first round of inter-MFA political consultations between Uzbekistan and the UAE was held in Abu Dhabi, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.
At the meeting, chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and Deputy Foreign Minister and International Cooperation of the UAE Khalifa Shahin al-Marar, the sides expressed mutual interest in further development of cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres.
The parties reviewed the agenda of upcoming meetings at various levels in 2019.
The Uzbek side confirmed that ambassador of our country to the United Arab Emirates will be appointed soon, which will allow us to intensify bilateral contacts on a systematic basis, including between the business circles of the two countries. In this context, the parties substantively discussed the expansion of mutual trade both in terms of mutual supply of goods and services, as well as in the volume of products.
As noted, the presence of direct flights between Uzbekistan and the UAE is also an important prerequisite for the development of tourist exchanges.
During the discussion of regional issues, the parties agreed to cooperate in implementing the provisions of the Tashkent Declaration of the International Conference on Afghanistan adopted on March 27, 2018. It is worth noting that the conference was attended by a delegation of the United Arab Emirates headed by State Minister of Foreign Affairs Anwar Gargash.
