On December 3, 2018, the third round of political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was held in Riyadh, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.
The delegations of the two countries, headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Dilshod Akhatov and the State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia Nizar Madani, exchanged views on improving bilateral relations in the political, trade-economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields, as well as mutual support on international and regional issues.
The sides spoke in favor of intensifying Uzbek-Saudi contacts at all levels, holding regular meetings between relevant ministries and other state bodies.
The Saudi side was thoroughly informed about the ongoing large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan in all spheres of life, which open up new opportunities for the further development of cooperation between the two countries.
Special attention was paid to the interaction between the parties within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international structures.
During their stay in Saudi Arabia, the Uzbek delegation held meetings and negotiations with the chairman of the Saudi Investment Agency Ibrahim al-Umar and the adviser of the Saudi Fund for Development Yusuf al-Bassam, during which promising areas of cooperation in trade, economic and investment fields were discussed.
