Uzbekistan, Kuwait to develop trade-economic, political relations

On December 4, 2018, the third round of political consultations between the delegations of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait was held in Kuwait city, MFA reported.

The delegation of Uzbekistan, which was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Dilshod Akhatov, conducted negotiations with Kuwaiti officials headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Sulaiman al-Said.

The parties thoroughly reviewed the current state and prospects of development of the Uzbek-Kuwaiti relations, the schedule of upcoming bilateral meetings, as well as international and regional issues.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan and Kuwait have significant potential for further development of bilateral cooperation, giving it a multi-faceted character.

Such areas as inter-parliamentary, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian ties were considered as promising fields.

It was noted that both parties are interested in implementing joint investment and socially significant projects in various spheres, particularly in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

During the conversation, an agreement was reached on holding the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission in Tashkent in June 2019, which is expected to play an important role in increasing mutual trade and enhancing contacts between the business circles of the two countries.

On the same day, the Uzbek delegation in Kuwait city held talks with Finance Minister Dr. Nayef Falah Al-Hajraf, Director General of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) Abdulwahab Al-Bader, and discussed expansion of inter-MFA relations.
