The Uzbek-Ukrainian trade turnover increased in January-August 2018 by 54.1% and reached $ 268,4 million, Kun.uz correspondent quoted from the statement of the Ukrainian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yuri Savchenko.
“The trade turnover between our countries is growing and it deserves the highest positive valuation. This year, the growth of Ukrainian exports is more intense than the growth of Uzbek exports last year, basically, because of sugar and some other goods,” the ambassador said.
In January-August, Ukrainian exports to Uzbekistan reached $ 187,4 million with an increase of 83.6%, while imports of Uzbek products by Ukraine exceeded $ 81,1 million with an increase of 12.4%.
Ukraine, mainly, supplies Uzbekistan with pharmaceutical and food products, as well as various service facilities.
It should be noted that a few days ago, Uzbek deputies announced that the republic could introduce restrictive measures against Ukrainian goods in response to an anti-subsidy investigation into the import of automobiles from Uzbekistan.
In return, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Uzbekistan, Yuri Savchenko, urged the Uzbek side to engage in dialogue, not “to feel under the weather”.
“I want to emphasize that there can be no measures to restrict the importation and sale of goods, after the start of the investigation which is being held on this regard. That is to say, no restrictive measures have been imposed on Uzbek cars in Ukraine. This is prohibited by law until the end of the investigation. We invite Uzbekistan to cooperate, so that the problems are resolved,” the ambassador noted.
