Uzbekistan intends to double the production of mineral fertilizers by 2031

JSC "Uzkhimprom" plans to expand the production of mineral fertilizers up to 2,4 million tons per year in 2018-2030.

Such a plan is envisaged in the “road map” for modernizing the production output, deepening the processing of basic products, making rational use of assets and introducing modern management methods into the activities of the JSC "Uzkhimprom".

The “road map” was approved by the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, which was published on Friday, Oct. 26.

According to the plan, in 2018-2030, the total volume of chemical production at the company “Uzkhimprom” will increase by 4,5 times, export of products by 4 times and the share of organic chemistry produces in the total production from 7% to 54%.

For this reason, it is planned to implement 29 investment projects for the modernization, expansion and creation of new processing industries, predominantly, involving direct foreign investments with an estimated value of $ 4,8 billion. 

The Uzbek government has been instructed to submit proposals on reforming the system of chemical industry and increasing its investment attractiveness with the recommendations of international consulting companies by April 15, 2019.

The adopted document approved the proposal on the establishment of cooperation with the Korean Research Institute of Chemical Technologies (KRICT).

The chemical industry is among the basic sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan. Currently, there are 13 industrial enterprises that produce nitrogen, phosphate, potash fertilizers in the structure of "Uzkhimprom". Among them, there are such large enterprises as Navoiazot, Ferganaazot, Dekhkanabad potash fertilizer plant and others.
